Reciprocal Links

Web Site Promotion for the Small Business v2
October 18, 2007

Did your parents ever tell you do unto others…? Today's tip has to do with doing unto others.

Reciprocal Links (aka Link Exchange) occur when you place links to another website on your site in
exchange for links back to your site from theirs. This is a proven way
to build link popularity (search engine ranking) which is instrumental in getting high search
engine rankings. This is sort of link a personal recommendation in the eyes of the search engines and the Internet community.

An example of this would be for a martial arts school web site to place links to a martial arts equipment supplier on their web site and for the martial arts equipment supplier to have a link to their client schools on their site.

How-To: Email the Webmaster or owner of the web site and make the proposal for reciprocal linking, as follows:

Dear Web Site Owner,

I own ABC Widgets and my web site is www.ABCWidget.com. Since your business uses widgets in the manufacturing of your product, I know of a way we can help each other gain a better Internet presence. If you would place a link to my site on your Links page, I will do the same on my site. This is a win-win situation for both of our web sites because of reciprocal linking.

Thanks,

John Doe
ABC Widget Company

www.ABCWidget.com

I've done this many times and it works great.
