Change Detection: Notifying Your Readers

Web Site Promotion For The Small Business v2
December 29, 2007

What is one of the most important things of SEO? Return visits… You want your visitors to come back to your site. You want them to keep coming back. Why would they come back? They would come back to see what's new. How about telling them when something changes, so they know right away and return to the site. Don't feel like sending out a bunch of emails? Use an online service called ChangeDetection.com. This service monitors a web site for changes, then sends and email to the subscriber, letting them know that a site has changed. You can use this by integrating the ChangeDetection.com integration process into your site as a “subscribe to be notified when this site changes” subscription. Make repeat visitors out of casual surfers and keep loyal visitors coming back. Give your visitors the tool they need to take full advantage of your site. (quoted from ChangeDetection.com).

I actually used this to monitor a Wiki site related to a martial art I was studying. People from a competitor school were messing up the site with incorrect information and slanderous statements. It worked VERY well. I would find out minutes after the change was made, which allowed me to revert the change quickly.
